Mallory was exceptional working with our son Wyatt. He is not always the easiest child to persuade to do things, but he was always excited to work with her.  Somehow she got through to him and he worked very hard in his lessons. He was 3-4 years old at the time and wanted to play with all the toys available, and Mallory did a wonderful job incorporating the objects in her room to fit the lesson of the day. She made it an extremely enjoyable experience, so much so that he normally was upset when he had to leave. We were all, especially Wyatt, sad to see Mallory go.

About Mallory

My name is Mallory Heckert. I’m an ASHA certified pediatric speech-language pathologist in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area. I’m a graduate of The University Northern Iowa with my Bachelor’s degree in Communicative Disorders and Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.

My clinical experience has focused on pediatric speech and language therapy. I’ve worked with children aged 2-21 in schools and clinics. Up until recently, I worked in a public school full-time in Eastern Iowa and previously in Southern Iowa. I am now seeing children full-time for private speech and language services out of my home.

When I’m not disguising my therapy as play time, I’m spending time with my husband, Evan, or with our families. We don’t have kids of our own yet, but we look forward to that day coming soon!

If you’d like to hear a bit about my background, click here to read my first blog post. If you’d like to see if I may be able to help your child, you can start the conversation on our contact page.

Finally, if you know someone whose child could benefit from speech therapy, please encourage them! It can be scary to seek out specialized services for your own children for the first time. In reality, it may be just the little bump in the right direction that young person needed to get over a stumbling block in their development. So many of my friends and colleagues are thriving and successful, yet at one point during their childhood they benefited from speech services.

I look forward to meeting you and your child, and helping you both take then next step towards your child’s very bright future!

~Mallory Heckert, MA, CCC-SLP

My son had Miss Mallory for speech for 1 1/2 years. He enjoyed going to speech, because Miss Mallory made learning fun. My son made improvements and gains with his speech.
